If you are new to the financial market, you want to place Buy and Sell orders on eToro to earn profits but don’t know how, please follow the instructions below:

1 After logging in eToro account, click on ‘Trade Markets’ on the left menu bar.

  1. In the toolbar, you can find hundreds of different financial instruments categorized into different markets: stocks, indices, commodities, currencies, crypto, and ETFs. 
  2. Clicking on the ‘Filter’ icon to filter by market type, by different exchanges (NYSE, London, Paris, …), or by industry group such as Financial, Technology, Healthcare, etc.

If you have identified the specific asset you want to trade, just click on ‘Search eToro’ on the top and type the name/ticker of that asset.

1 – Two options of trading orders on eToro (BUY or SELL).

2 – Stock name, order type, trading price, and the situation of the market

For this example, we are opening a Buy order with Amazon stock that is $3299/share.

3 – Rate – this function is used to set the specific price we want to buy.

In the above case, we are ordering an order at the market price of $3299. With the ‘RATE’ tool, you can set the price at $3200 then the order will be filled if the price is AMZN drops to $3200.

4 – The amount you invest for this trade – (in USD). In this case, it is $200.

You also can set up trading orders based on the number of asset units by clicking on ‘Units’ next to the amount of money. 

5 – The number of units equivalent to the amount of money you invest and the percentage of your total capital. In this case, it is 0,06 units).

6 – Stop loss – this function helps you minimize your loss when the price goes against your wish.

In this case, you are opening a Buy order and set Stoploss at $100. It means that the order will be automatically closed if you lost $100.

7 – Leverage – a tool enabling traders to open much larger positions beyond what would be available from the equity or personal funds alone. It can expand the potential profit or magnify your losses.

For this example, leverage is set at x2. Therefore, you are investing double money (400$), and the number of units is also double (0,12 units).

8 – Take profit – a function to close a trade at a specific rate to ensure your profit is realized and goes to your available balance.

10 – Overnight fee – is a payment that applies for leveraged orders or SELL positions if you hold a position overnight.

In this case, it is $0,07 per day and $0,21 at the weekend.

4Depending on your needs, select ‘BUY’ or ‘SELL’, and then adjust parameters (the amount of money, Stoploss, Take profit and leverage) that fit your strategy.

5Click on ‘Set order’ at the bottom to open a new position.
