1. What is the overnight fee?

The swap fee – also known as the overnight holding fee – is a payment that is applied if you hold a position overnight.

CFD positions held open overnight incur a small fee, proportional to the value of the position. This is essentially an interest payment to cover the cost of leverage that you use overnight.

Swaps are the industry standard and reflect the forces of supply and demand that govern the market.

These fees vary depending on the direction of the position (BUY or SELL). In some cases, you can get your money back: an overnight refund.

Except for crypto assets, swaps/swap holding fees are not accounted for/credited on Saturdays and Sundays. Fees for Saturday and Sunday will be credited weekly, including the regular payment multiplied by 3 (weekend fee/refund).

2. When is overnight charged?

Overnight charges are charged at 17:00 New York time. These fees will be applied to any position opened at this time.

3. How can I view the overnight fee schedule?

The exact fee will be displayed at the bottom of the position opening confirmation window before placing the trade when you open a position. You can see a list of fees that eToro applies on the fee schedule page on eToro’s website.

5. How is the overnight fee calculated?

This formula is different for each asset class. Fees are calculated based on market conditions and may vary from day today. The rate will be applied until the following calculation.

6. How can I see the amount paid/received?

Fees and refunds can be viewed in your account statement, the History page category, and the transaction summary screen.

7. Does eToro charge an overnight fee for positions or account balances?

For manual trades, eToro charges an overnight fee on the account balance. For copied positions, fees will be calculated based on available copy balance.

8. What if I don’t have enough money in my account balance?

If you don’t have enough funds, your account will have a negative balance.

9. Is the overnight fee subject to change?

Yes. As market conditions change, eToro will assess whether swaps are necessary. A full list of fees can be found on eToro’s fee schedule page.
